# Design

This was my first major project made in 2017 and is the penultimate project in Steve Ramsey's Weekend Woodworker course.

It now lives in my parents house, replacing an incredibly old table from when I was a child. My mam has asked for a small set of occasional tables in a similar style, pretty difficult considering I'm in another country now though.

Creation

I was very much following what Steve Ramsey told me to do in his tutorial videos. It is essential a lot of table saw cuts and it's a fantastic example of what you can do with a small amount of tools and a basic skillset. It was finished with some light oak Danish oil on the pine and dark Oak on the hardwood ply centre.

Lessons learnt

As this was part of an online course, I learnt so much. If I were to do it again, I would do a lot of tricks to make it look lighter. We'll see what I do if I ever make that occasional table
